Dear Families,
Welcome to the third grade! My name is Mr Livingston and this will be my fifth year at HIS. I have been working for more than 14 years as a teacher, both in Australia and at International schools and I am very excited to be starting this adventure with my new class.
I have a Bachelor of Education (Primary) degree from Avondale College University in Newcastle, Australia. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught across a wide range of grade levels, from second grade to sixth grade. I love coming to work and seeing even the smallest progress that each learner is making every day.
As a teacher, it is my goal to inspire and guide every learner to reach toward their full potential. I enjoy creating hands-on learning lessons that allow all students to experience success in their education journey. My job is to help create independent learners who are self-motivated and are able to reflect on what they have learnt and how they learnt it. I aim to create a safe learning environment where every student feels valued and cared for.
Working as a team with each of you is the best way that I can support your child in and out of the classroom. At any time if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. You can write a message in your child’s homework book, send me an email at samuel.livingston@hdis.hc.edu.tw or contact the school office and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Remember that you can also follow what is happening from ClassDojo or Blogger (https://livingstonathis.blogspot.com/).
When it comes to supporting your child at home, please check and help your child with their homework when needed. Homework is important because it reviews concepts that we have been working on in class, and allows your child to assess if the material is too hard or too easy. If you find that the homework is too challenging, too time-consuming, or too easy, please contact me. Once your child has completed their homework, please sign their homework book and send it with them to school every day.
There are some other ways that you can also help your child experience success at school. Please make sure that they have all their supplies needed for school and each day you will need to send along a healthy snack for break time. As freshwater is so important to the development and a healthy lifestyle please make sure your child also brings along a refillable drink bottle each day.
Lastly, please note that school will start on Thursday, August 20th for Elementary students. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you this year as we work together for your child’s future.
Warm regards,
Sam Livingston
